A Nightmare on Elm Street actress Amanda Wyss stars along side Amanda Parsons and Georgia McCorkle in the short horror film Oct 23rd.  Written, directed and edited by Paul Santana, the film is based on a true story.

Oct 23rd centers on Paige (Parsons), a mother that has just lost her husband, Frank. He was killed crossing the street while their daughter watched. She can not shake the feeling that Chelsea (McCorkle), her young daughter, is responsible. She can her daughter’s voice inside her head urging her to harm herself as her daughter sits watching on with a smile. Paige recounts the events of the past few weeks to her friend Karen, who is urging her to get help. When Karen (Wyss) checks on Chelsea the girl tells her that she is afraid of her mother and pleads for Karen to take her away. Karen grabs her coat and tells Paige that she is going to get Jim, who we assume is a psychiatrist and a friend. Once in her car she can hear Chelsea’s voice over her speakers. Chelsea tells Karen to turn around. Suddenly we see Chelsea in a demonic form hit the window.

I was very impressed by Oct 23rd. It accomplished more in ten minutes than most feature films. It was grippingOc and intense. You can really feel the panic of Parsons’ character Paige. The entire cast and the directer did an amazing job. Horror films rarely ever affect me any more, but in the last moments of the film I caught myself wanting to hide behind my hands and peek through my fingers. It left me wanting more. In fact, I would love to see Oct 23rd made into a full length feature film.
