News comes to that Fox has ordered the re-imagined series adaption of the 1973 horror classic The Exorcist to begin production. The psychological thriller series is set four decades after the original film.
Scream Queen actress Brianne Howey had been cast as Charlotte, their version of Regan. Geena Davis will co-star as Angela Rance, a regal and proud woman, under tremendous stress, trying to keep her faith and stay positive while her family is going through hell. Howey and Davis star along side Alfonso Herrera (Sense8), Ben Daniels (House of Cards), Kurt Egiawan (Beasts of No Nation) and Hannah Kasulk.
The series, directed by Rupert Wyatt (Rise of the Planet of the Apes) and penned by Jeremy Slater (The Lazarus Effect), has been described as a modern reinvention of the novel that was also adapted into William Friedkin’s classic by the same name. The series follows two very different men, Father Marcus Lang (Daniels) and Father Tomas Ortega (Herrera) , as they tackle a family’s terrifying case of demonic possession.
Slater will also serve as executive producer along with David Robinson, James Robinson and Barbara Wall for 20th Century Fox TV and Morgan Creek Productions. Rolin Jones, James Robinson, James Robinson, and Barbra Wall are listed as producers for The Exorcist series.
