Devil Worshiper, rapist, burglar and serial killer Richard Ramirez terrorized Los Angeles and San Francisco from June 1984 to August 1985, earning him the name “The Night Stalker”. Ramirez broke into the homes and tortured 25 victims, murdering 13, that officials know of. More of his victims are still being identified. In 2009 DNA linked Ramirez to the death of 9 year-old Mei Leung, who was murdered on April 10, 1984.
On June 12th Lou Diamond Phillips (Longmire) will star along side Bellamy Young (Scandal) in LMN’s The Night Stalker. The film will follow Ramirez’s (Phillips) trial by focusing on his lawyer (Young). While representing Ramirez she’s also attempting to clear another inmate’s name by getting a confession from Ramirez that he actually committed the crime.
Directed and written by Megan Griffith (Lucky Them), The Night Stalker will simultaneously premiere on LMN on the 12th and debut in select theaters, including the theater in Santa Ana, only 20 miles from where Ramirez committed his first murder.
