One of the most infamously haunted objects in the world is a painting titled ‘The Anguished Man’. The piece of art has a dark history. The unknown artist mixed his on blood in the paint. Shortly after completing the piece the artist took his own life. It’s said that the artist’s tormented soul is bound to the painting. For years, the owner of the artwork has claimed that a spirit attached to it has terrorized his family and has even physically attacked his son.
La Brea Pictures has announced that they have acquired the film rights for the story of the painting and have put Tii Ricks in the director’s chair. Ricks will also be penning the screenplay for the film, titled Anguished. Set in the UK, Anguished centers on an Englishman who inherits a strange painting that has long been locked in an attic, out of sight.
“I am thrilled to be able to bring the story of The Anguished Man’ on the screen.” Ricks stated. “There is something really intriguing about haunted objects and especially haunted paintings – they really appeal to our biggest fears and imagination.”
Ricks is a writer/editor/director best known for 2015’s horror film Rage: Midsummer’s Eve and is one of the top film editors in Europe.
