AMC has obtained the European and Latin American rights to the horror anthology series The Terror, based on Dan Simmons’ novel by the same name.
The Terror, set in 1847, follows Captain Sir John Franklin’s expedition into the Northwest Passage. The crew, already suffering from starvation, frustration, illness and cannibalism, are plagued by a monster who is killing them off one-by-one.
The 60-minute 10-episode series is set to air in 2017 under the guidance of executive producer Ridley Scott. David W. Zucker, Alexandra Milchan and Scott Lambert will be producing. True Story’s David Kajganich will be adapting the series, Variety reports.
The series is from AMC Studios, Ridley Scott’s company Scott Free, Entertainment 360, and Emjag Productions.
