Welcome to Camp Stillwater, where campers have fun in the sun, and the councilors die one-by-one. Freeform’s new slasher series Dead of Summer premieres this week.
Set in the 1980’s, school is out for the summer and a sun-drenched season of firsts beckons the counselors at Camp Stillwater, a seemingly idyllic Midwestern summer camp. including first loves, first kisses – and first kills. Stillwater’s dark, ancient mythology awakens, and what was supposed to be a summer of fun soon turns into one of unforgettable scares and evil at every turn.
The new series has an impressive cast that includes Candman actor Tony Todd, Zelda Williams (Teen Wolf), Albert Frezza (Charlie’s Angels), Ronen Rubienstein (Orange is the New Black), Paulina Singer (Gothem), Eli Gore (The 100), Mark Indelicato (Ugly Betty) and Once Upon a Time’s Elizabeth Mitchell and Elizabeth Lail.
Each episode of the show, directed by creators Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis, will center on one of the counselors.
In the new clip from the first episode we see the camp’s councilors sitting around a fire talking about a serial killer who slaughtered two-dozen people. Is it just a campfire story or is it more?
Penned and executive produced by Horowitz, Kitsis and Ian Goldberg, Dead of Summer premieres on Freeform on Tuesday June 28th, at 9/8c.
