The Orchard has acquired the distribution rights to Demon. Sadly, the film’s director, Marcin Wrona, tragically passed away before he could see the film’s release this September. He was 42.
Co-written by Wrona and Pawel Maslona, Demon stars Itay Tiran, Agnieszka Zulewska, Andrzej Grabowski, Tomasz Schuchardt, Katarzyna Herman, Adam Woronowcz, Wlodzimierz Press and Tomasz Zietek.
In the film Peter travels to the hometown of his future wife Janet. As a wedding gift from the bride’s grandfather, he receives a piece of land where the two can build a house and raise a happy family. While preparing the land for construction, Peter finds remains in the ground beneath his new property. Soon, very strange things begin to happen and the couple’s lives forever.
The film is a modern twist on the Jewish legend of the Dybbuk. A Dybbuk is said to be the spirit of someone who has not been properly laid to rest that then sets out to take over the body of a living person.
