It’s been a while since it was announced that the giant graboids are back for anther round in an upcoming ‘Tremors’ series. News has been slim since Kevin Bacon revealed he would be reprising his role as Valentine “Val” McKee, one half of the duo who fought the hungry critters in the 1990 cult classic. Bacon will not only be starring in the new series, he’ll also be serving as executive producer.
Unfortunately, Bacon didn’t appear in any of the sequels. They just were not the same without him. Bacon told Collider, “They went and made a bunch of sequels to the movie. I want to put those aside because, first of all, I wasn’t in them.” It sounds as if the series will be a direct spin-off of the original film.
The good news is, ‘Tremors’ is currently in development. No premiere date or network has been revealed at this time. Blumhouse is currently shopping the series to multiple networks. Jason Blum (Insidious) will be serving as producer. Andrew Miller (Boys and Girls) will be penning the action-filled scripts for ‘Tremors’.
As for cast, no co-stars have been announced. We are keeping our fingers crossed that the series will reunite Bacon with his co-stars form the original film, Fred Ward, the cowboy/handyman and Valentine’s best friend, and Michael Gross, the gun enthusiast and survivalist who appeared in all four sequels, including last year’s ‘Tremors 5: Bloodlines‘. We will keep you posted as the series develops.
