2014’s Russian film ‘Viy’ (aka Forbidden Empire), based on Nikolai Gogol’s novel by the same name, was a hit. Now, director Oleg Stepchenko is wrapping up the sequel with several big stars, including Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jackie Chan and Rutger Hauer. The sequel, simply titled ‘Viy 2’, was filmed in China and is now in post-production, according to Variety.
The first film centers on explorer Jonathan Green (Jason Flemyng) as he explored the forests of Transylvania and examined the dangerous creatures he found. ‘Viy 2’ follows Green as he sets out on a journey that will eventually lead him to China. The cartographer will face many exciting adventures, encounter bizarre creatures, meet the Chinese princess, and confront a deadly martial-arts master and the Dragon King.
