Few television series have ever accomplished a group of fans as dedicated as the lovers of ‘The X-Files’. Last year, we got to see Mulder and Scully return for a limited series revival, but fans wanted more.
It seems Fox is more than happy to make that happen. That’s right, it appears that we are going to see our favorite ‘X-Files’ detectives return, this time for more than just a couple of episodes.
Entertainment Weekly has reported that during the Television Critics Association press tour, Fox president David Madden told reporters that the network is planning “to have an announcement very shortly” about the renewal of ‘The X-Files’. The only issue is scheduling around David Duchovney and Gillian Anderson’s prior commitments. He also stated that future seasons of the series will be longer than last year’s revival, but shorter than the series’ original 20 or more episode seasons.
I want to believe that it will all come together. If it does, we can expect to see ‘The X-Files’ return some time in 2018.
