The reboot of the ‘The Invisible Man’, originally released as the 1933 adaption of H.G. Well’s novel, will be in the hands of Alex Kurtzman, who also directed the new ‘Mummy’ movie, Deadline reports. Chris Morgan will be producing. Universal’s Executive Vice President Jon Moore and Vice President Jay Polidoro will over see the project.

In the original, a scientist, played by Claude Rains, discovers the key to invisibility, unaware that it will cost him his sanity.

Depp’s most recent roles include Captain Jack Sparrow in ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man Tell No Tales’,  the “Mad Hatter” in ‘Alice Through the Looking Glass’, Grinderwald in ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’, mobster James ‘Whitey’ Bulger in ‘Black Mass’, and a detective in Kevin Smith’s horror-comedy ‘Yoga Hosers’.

‘The Mummy’ and ‘The Invisible Man’ are just the beginning of Universal’s new re-imagined monster shared universe. Other reboots will include ‘The Creature From the Black Lagoon’, ‘The Wolf Man’, ‘Frankenstein’, and ‘The Bride of Frankenstein’. ‘The Mummy‘, starring Tom Cruise, Russell Crowe, Jake Johnson, Courtney B. Vance, and Annabelle Wallis, will arrive in theaters nationwide on June 9th, 2017.
