The film adaption of the 1986 Midway video game Rampage already has an impressive cast that includes Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Naomi Harris, Malin Akerman, Joe Manganiello, Marley Shelton, Jake Lacey, Jack Quaid, Marley Shelton, Matt Gerald, and Breanne Hill. Today, we have news (via Deadline) that the latest addition to the all-star lineup is none other than Jeffrey Dean Morgan.
Morgan is set to play the role of Agent Russell, who works for the OGA, a covert government agency. The character is said to have serious swagger and an attitude to match. That sounds a lot like Negan, the sadistic character he currently plays on the mega hit series The Walking Dead.
Brad Peyton (Incarnate, San Andreas) is in the director’s chair for the adaptation written by Ryan Engle, Carlton Cuse, and Adam Sztykiel.
At the moment the plot is still being kept under wraps, but if the story follows the game’s plot, Revenge will feature monsters who attack US cities and landmarks, a monstrously transformed gorilla, a crocodile, and a wolf.
Rampage will arrive in the theaters on April 20, 2018. We will update you when we know more.
