It is not rare for people to find creepy things while exploring in the woods, but one man found something not only odd but scary.
James Rankin was hiking in the secluded woods in Long Island, New York when stumbled across an eerie scene, dozens of missing persons posters taped to trees.
As he films his discovery, you can hear the terror in his voice as he says, “I’ll cut right to the chase because I might die. Look what these  are,” as he zooms in one of the posters with the picture and information of Jennifer Kesse, last seen in Florida back in 2006.

As he explores the area and posters, you can see that someone is camping nearby. He also finds what looks like an old cage built out of limbs. After hearing a voice he takes off running, clearly he is truly scared.

After he posted the video on Facebook the local police were alerted. They determined that James had wandered onto private property.
One of the posters in the video was that of Lauren Spierer, a student at Indiana University who went missing in June of 2011. Her parents came across the video.

We have seen the video comprised of many missing persons’ posters, including Lauren’s, placed in the woods,” her family wrote on Facebook. “I cannot comprehend what would compel someone to find this amusing or entertaining. Clearly they are not a family member of a missing person.”

After being told that the posters were decoration for a Halloween party, Rankin still believes that the posters were not just decoration, but something much more sinister.

I’ve been told through the grapevine that supposedly the residents of the adjacent property will soon be erecting fences and posting ‘No Trespassing’ signs,” Rankin said. “What I wanna know is, if these were Halloween party decorations, why have they been hanging there for weeks or months? Because it was plainly obvious that the stuff had been there for quite a while, and not set up recently. Gotta wonder just what sort of person thinks it’s OK to use real missing persons posters of people’s lost loved ones as party decor,” Rankin wrote on Facebook.

You have to admit the scene is creepy. Why would someone choose to use the posters as decorations? If someone did use them for that purpose, they clearly have very little conscience. What do you think? How would you feel if you came across such a thing in the woods?
