Nearly one year ago, we reported that after 20 years Leigh Janiak would be delivering a sequel to the cult favorite, The Craft.
Now, we have learned, via Tracking Board, that Sony has brought in Daniel Casey (10 Cloverfield Lane) to re-write Janiak and Phil Graziadei’s script for the film which was going to follow a new group of young witches discovering magic. There is no word yet if the plot will be the same or if Casey’s version will be something all-together different.
The 1996 film, directed by Andrew Fleming, follows Sarah (Robin Tunney), a teenage girl new in town. At her new school she finds a new group of friends, a trio of outcast girls, played by Fairuza Balk, Neve Campbell and Rachel True, who practice witchcraft. With Sarah’s natural witchy talent, the girls are able to actually cast spells and curses against those who have wronged them.
