Netflix’s zombie drama Cargo has now entered post-production. Based on the short film by the same name, it is the first Australian film to fly under the Netflix Original banner.
Written and co-directed by Yolanda Remke and Ben Howling, the film centers on a father, played by Martin Freeman (The Hobbit), who is stranded in rural Australia after an accident with only 48 hours to find a new home for his baby daughter after he is infected by a pandemic.
Freeman stars alongside Anthony Hayes, Caren Pistorius, Susie Poter, David Gulpilil, and Simone Landers. Ian Kirk, Jeff Harrison, Craig Deeker, Fergus Grady, Phil Hunt, Ian Dawson, and Compton Ross serve as executive producers.
Below is the short film that inspired the full-length feature. Be sure to have Kleenex in hand, it is heartbreaking. Cargo will be released in 2018.
