“Big meets bigger” in the first trailer for New Line Cinema’s Rampage starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.
Brad Peyton is in the director’s chair for the film where he reunites with Johnson who played the lead in his 2015 earthquake film San Andreas.
In Rampage, the live adaption of Midway’s game by the same name, “Primatologist Davis Okoye (Johnson), a man who keeps people at a distance, shares an unshakable bond with George, the extraordinarily intelligent, silverback gorilla who has been in his care since birth. But a rogue genetic experiment gone awry transforms this gentle ape into a raging monster. To make matters worse, it’s soon discovered there are other similarly altered alpha predators. As these newly created monsters tear across North America, destroying everything in their path, Okoye teams with a discredited genetic engineer to secure an antidote, fighting his way through an ever-changing battlefield, not only to halt a global catastrophe but to save the fearsome creature that was once his friend.”
Rampage also stars Oscar nominee Naomie Harris (Moonlight), Jeffrey Dean Morgan (The Walking Dead), Malin Akerman (Billions), Jake Lacy (TV’s Girls), Joe Manganiello (True Blood). P.J. Byrne (Final Destination 5), Marley Shelton (Solace), Jack Quaid (The Hunger Games: Catching Fire), Matt Gerald (TV’s Daredevil) and Breanne Hill who also appeared in San Andreas. The screenplay was written by Ryan Engle and Adam Sztykiel.
The creatures in this action-packed film were brought to life by the five-time Academy Award-winning VFX company Weta Digital, the team who was behind films such as Justice League, Deadpool, Avatar, and Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, and Oscar-nominated VFX supervisor Colin Strause (The Avengers, The Conjuring 2, San Andreas).
Ramage is set to open in theaters nationwide on April 20, 2018, from Warner Bros. Pictures.
