It’s been a while since we had an update for the film Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark, but CBS Films has now announced that André Øvredal, who brought us the fantastic film The Autopsy of Jane Doe (review), will be in the director’s chair for the adaptation of the iconic books written by Alvin Schwartz. The script is being penned by Kevin and Dan Hageman (The Lego Movie).
Production is set to begin early next summer and will center on a group of teens who investigate a series of strange and terrible murders in their small town.
Guillermo del Toro, who was originally going to direct but stepped away, will be producing the film alongside Jason Brown, Sean Daniel, and Elizabeth Grave.
No release date or cast has been announced yet. We’ll keep you posted.
