A few months ago we reported that Sony was expanding their shared Marvel universe with the new spin-off Morbius. Today, Sony stated that Daniel Espinosa has been tapped to direct.
They also announced their star, Oscar Winner Jared Leto. But the musician/actor is not new to the comic world, back in 2016 he played the role of Joker in Suicide Squad. He also has a solo movie in the works where he will reprise his role as the insane villain.
In the comics, Morbius was a scientist who, “in trying to find a cure for a rare blood disease, accidentally transformed himself into a living vampire who, though disgusted by his own bloodlust, chooses to prey upon criminals he deems unworthy of life.”
The film will be an adaptation of the character created in 1971 by writer Roy Thomas and artist Gil Kale, which debuted in “The Amazing Spider-Man #101”.
