The upcoming remake of Stephen King’s Firestarter, from Universal and Blumhouse, has found its director, Fatih Akin (In the Fade).
Scott Teems (Narcos) will be adapting the script based on King’s 1980 novel about a young girl with pyrokinesis (the ability to set fire with only the mind).
Jason Blum of Blumhouse will produce alongside Akiva Goldsman. Variety reports Martha de Laurentiis will executive produce. VP of production Sara Scott will oversee production for Universal.
