Before there was An American Werewolf in London from master of horror John Landis, there was Schlock. Now, for the first time, Landis’ 1973 film is getting a limited theatrical release in over 150 theaters during the annual Art House Theater Day this September.
Not only is it Landis’ first film, Schlock helped launch the career of one of the best SFX artists to ever walk the earth, Rick Baker.
“Carnage! Terror! Banana skins! The mighty prehistoric ape Schlocktropus has emerged from hiding to embark on a full-scale rampage across a quiet SoCal suburb. The police are baffled. The army is powerless. The body count is rising…but when Schlock encounters a kindly blind woman who sees beyond his grotesque visage, the homicidal simian is presented with a chance at redemption…”
Schlock opens in theaters on September 23, 2018. For more on Art House Theater Day and for theater listings please visit the official Facebook page.
The film was also released on a limited 2000 run on dual-format mediabook Blu-ray and DVD combo set on April 27th, 2018, from Turbine Media Group.
