The Conjuring haunted theaters in 2013 and has been going strong since. In fact, it has spawned an entire universe featuring two Annabelle films with another on its way, and now The Nun is killing it in theaters. The universe shows no signs of slowing down. In fact, it’s continuing to expand, this time with The Conjuring 3.
During a recent interview promoting The Nun, producer Peter Safran gave an update on The Conjuring 3.
It’s actually coming along great. David Leslie Johnson is working on the screenplay, and I feel pretty confident they will have that one up and running next year.”
Safran has produced each of The Conjuring films. Odds are we will see The Conjuring 3 in 2020. Annabelle 3 begins filming in October in LA and will open in theaters in 2019, which fits the pattern so far, putting one film from the franchise in theaters every year.
While critics are giving mixed reviews, The Nun has been a massive hit in theaters bring in $131 Million at the box office its opening weekend.
