Superheroes are everywhere these days. on TV, on the big screen. There’s one superhero movie that’s getting a remake that will blow your socks off, The Toxic Avenger. That’s right, Toxie is getting a new big budget movie. But that’s not all, Legendary Pictures plans to remake the entire franchise which includes three sequels, a cartoon, and a musical.
Troma’s original, directed by Lloyd Kaufman and Michael Herz, follows Melvin, a bullied janitor who fell into a vat of toxic waste. He was transformed into a monster who uses his new powers to fight crime.
Kaufman and Herz are onboard to oversee the franchise for Legendary. No writer or director has been announced at this point.
