Amblin has snatched up the rights to The White Room, which is being described as Don’t Breathe meets Hereditary.
Deadline is reporting that the film is written by Bryce McGuire (Unfollowed) with Rod Blackhurst (Tribeca Fest’s winner Here Alone, Amanda Knox) in the director’s chair. The duo has teamed up before on New Line’s Night Swim.
A female-driven thriller, The White Room unfolds over one night in the remote Adirondack Mountains when a mysterious young woman goes missing. It’s up to a hardened local widow to uncover the truth behind the disappearance which may have been caused by something inhuman.
Evan Hayes of The Picture Company will co-produce with Alex Heineman as well as Andrew Rona. Noah Lang will produce with ACE founder Justin Barocas executive producing.
