Director Daniel Espinosa‘s (Life) film adaptation of the comic Morbius has added another cast member. News has come via Variety that “Doctor Who” actor Matt Smith has joined Jared Leto (Suicide Squad), and Adria Arjona (“True Detective”).
The dark Spider-Man spin-off was created by Roy Thomas and artist Gil Kane and debuted in Amazing Spider-Man #101. Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless penned the script for the film.
The film centers on Michael Morbius, a scientist who, while trying to find a cure for a rare blood disease, accidentally turning himself into a living vampire. He chooses to prey on criminals he deems unworthy to live to feed his blood lust.
