If the horde of zombie shows on TV are still leaving you hungry for more, then we have a new series that you should definitely sink your teeth into, “Black Summer.”
When “Z Nation” was canceled by Syfy last year after five seasons there were hopes that Netflix might pick up the zomcom. That hasn’t happened, but Netflix is getting ready to premiere “Black Summer” their new companion/prequel series to “Z Nation.”
Set in the early days of the zombie apocalypse, the eight-episode first season centers on Rose (Jamie King), a mother, and a small group of American refugees who must find the strength they need to fight their way back to loved ones. But in order for Rose and her team to brave this hostile new world, they will need to make brutal decisions to contend with zombies and each other.
I’m sure you’re wondering if “Black Summer” will be part humor and part horror like “Z Nation”. This series is reportedly less about laughs and more about the brutality and heartbreak of being trapped in a world filled with zombies.
King stars alongside Justin Chu Cary, Kelsey Flower, Joel Gagne, Bud Klasky, Arielle Rombough, and Sal Velez Jr.
Created by Karl Schaefer and John Hyams, “Black Summer” will debut on Netflix on April 11, 2019.
