Robert Eggers, the brilliant filmmaker that delivered The Witch and The Lighthouse, is building an epic cast for his next film, The Northman. Alexander Skarsgård, Bill Skarsgård, Willem Dafoe, Anya Taylor-Joy, Kate Dickie, and Nicole Kidman are all set to star.

This week another name was added. According to reports, actress and musician Björk has also joined the cast and will play the role of the “Slav Witch.” Known for her unique sound and elaborate costumes, Björk’s most notable film role was that of  Selma in Lars von Trier’s award-winning 2000 movie Dancer in the Dark.

At the moment, the details surrounding the film are being kept very quiet. We do know that it is a Viking revenge saga set in Iceland near the turn of the 10th century.

Eggers co-wrote the script along with Icelandic poet and novelist, Sjón.

Due to the pandemic, filming will probably take place later this year, with The Northman likely premiering at film festivals late in 2021.
