Martin Wilson is making his feature directorial debut with the true story-inspired shark attack film Great White starring Katrina Bowden (Tucker and Dale vs Evil). Swimming your way later this year, we’ve got the first trailer for you to sink your teeth into.
Written by Michael Boughen (Tomorrow, When the War Begins) and from the producer of The Reef, the film centers on seaplane pilots Kaz Fellows (Katrina Bowden) and Charlie Brody (Aaron Jakubenko), as well as with their passengers, Joji Minase (Tim Kano), his wife Michelle (Kimie Tsukakoshi), and Benny (Te Kohe Tuhaka), who book a flight to Hell’s Reef.
Their trip turns into a nightmare when the group becomes stranded in the sea plane miles from shore and is hunted by hungry Great White sharks that lurk just below the surface. Their only hope of survival is to make it to the beach, but they’ll have to find a way to get past nature’s ultimate predators.
Wilson has stated, “The most important thing is that we tell a story and keep it as real as possible for the audience. Under the direction of Production Designer Adam Head, an array of sharks have been built, and by using a combination of techniques we believe Great White will have audiences completely engrossed and convinced it was worth buying the ticket. It’s all about the experience.”
The release date has yet to be announced by Universal Pictures, but we’ll keep you posted. In the meantime, check out the action-packed trailer.
