Neil Marshall’s brilliant horror thriller The Reckoning, premiering this May on Shudder, is set against the backdrop of England at the end of the 17th century, as the Great Plague and the obsession with witch hunts rage.

In the film, “After losing her husband during the Great Plague, Grace Haverstock (Charlotte Kirk) is unjustly accused of being a witch and placed in the custody of England’s most ruthless witch-hunter, Judge Moorcroft (Sean Pertwee). Forced to endure physical and emotional torture while steadfastly maintaining her innocence, Grace must face her inner demons as the Devil himself starts to work his way into her mind.”

Joe Anderson and Steven Waddington also star in the film that Marshall wrote with Charlotte Kirk and Edward Evers-Swindell, based on a story by Antony Jones and Nico Evers-Swindell.

Marshall has a long list of genre hits, including The Descent, Dog Soldiers, and Doomsday. He also directed several episodes of the record-breaking series “Game of Thrones.”  The Reckoning is an incredible addition to his legacy.

The Reckoning, which we call “powerful” and “stunning” in our review, arrives on Shudder on May 13, 2021. It is a film not to be missed.
