The horror documentary franchise In Search of Darkness, the ultimate series on horror in the 80s, already features over eight hours about one of the best decades of horror. Now, a new installment has been announced via Twitter which will turn the franchise into a trilogy.
The first documentary was released in 2019 and explored ’80s horror movies through the perspective of the actors, directors, producers, and the SFX people who made them, as well as their impact on cinema. Directed by David A. Weiner, the documentary features horror icons such as John Carpenter, Larry Cohen, Tom Atkins, Doug Bradley, and many more. The next film was released in 2020 and dives deeper into the practical effects of the decade and has interviews from genre icons and industry experts alongside the original cast.
There are no details yet on what this installment will focus on or when it might be released, but let’s be honest, there are so many amazing films that came out the decade that has forever affected fans and the industry, like Friday the 13th and Nightmare of Elm Street. There’s plenty of material that is still out there for In Search of Darkness III to cover.
If you somehow missed the first two installments, head over to Amazon Prime or Shudder to watch them now.
