Director Scott Derrickson returns to horror to partner again with the foremost brand in the genre, Blumhouse, for his new horror thriller, The Black Phone whose release date has now been set for January.
In the film, “Finney Shaw, a shy but clever 13-year-old boy, is abducted by a sadistic killer and trapped in a soundproof basement where screaming is of little use. When a disconnected phone on the wall begins to ring, Finney discovers that he can hear the voices of the killer’s previous victims. And they are dead set on making sure that what happened to them doesn’t happen to Finney.”

Mason Thames makes his film debut in this terror-filled flick that is produced, directed, and co-written by Scott Derrickson, the writer-director of Sinister, The Exorcism of Emily Rose and Marvel’s Doctor Strange. Also starring in the film are James Ransone, Madeleine McGraw, and Jeremy Davies.
The film’s screenplay is by Derrickson & C. Robert Cargill (Doctor Strange, Sinister franchise), and based on the award-winning short story by Joe Hill from his New York Times bestseller 20th Century Ghosts.
