Lionsgate has just unleashed Saw: Unrated, the original Saw on 4K Ultra HD Combo Pack, a first for the film that kick-started a major franchise and changed the genre itself.

The film centers on a morally obsessed serial killer (Tobin Bell) who forces his victims to play twisted, horrific games of torture and survival. When two men wake up to find themselves chained in a bathroom, and a dead man on the floor, their game begins. Now, Lawrence (Cary Elwes) and Adam (Leigh Whannel) have to try and find a way to escape while a mysterious man has taken Lawrence’s family hostage.

Not only will viewers see Saw in new clarity and richness, but the Combo Pack also features a ton of Special Features which includes interviews with James Wan and Leigh Whannell who created the franchise, cast members, producers, special effects artists, and much more. Fans also get a never before seen clips and pictures from behind the scenes. Viewers get a more in-depth look at the film and its creation than they have ever seen before. The movie also comes with the short film (a scene from the script) that was used to help find funding and secure the movie’s release.

Its fresh story, unique style, and the way it was filmed have left an incredible mark on the genre and influenced a whole generation of filmmakers and that still continues to this day.

I was very impressed by the quality of the picture and its sound. However, my favorite thing about the Combo Pack is the special features. To hear the filmmakers talk about the movie in so much detail and with so much passion and dedication is heartwarming. I also found the facts and stories about how Saw was made and the challenges it faced very interesting. I learned a lot of things I hadn’t previously known.

The cover of the Combo Pack is pretty cool. The cover features the puppet’s face on a black background with a hand-drawn look. At first, I didn’t notice it, but when the box tilted in my hand I noticed that when the light hit it just right,  there were words written on the puppet’s face in a translucent paint that has a shiny sheen to it. It says, “Greetings and welcome I want to play a game.” As a fan, you should recognize that line.

The Saw: Unrated 4K Ultra HD Combo Pack should be part of every horror fan’s collection not just because it’s awesome but also because of its legacy. It’s a piece of horror history. Here’s the good news, it’s out now, from Lionsgate! You can find out more about the Combo Pack HERE.
