Gerard Butler faced an extinction event when a comet crashed to earth in director Ric Roman Waugh‘s disaster thriller Greenland alongside Morena Baccarin who played the role of his wife.
Deadline has now reported that a sequel is in the works with both stars reprising their roles. Waugh will be returning to the director’s chair for the sequel titled Greenland: Migration. Writer Chris Sparling is also back.
In Greenland, “John Garrity (Butler), his estranged wife Allison (Baccarin), and young son Nathan make a perilous journey to their only hope for sanctuary. Amid terrifying news accounts of cities around the world being leveled by the comet’s fragments, the Garrity’s experience the best and worst in humanity. As the countdown to global apocalypse approaches zero, their incredible trek culminates in a desperate flight to a possible safe haven.”
In Greenland: Migration, “The Garrity family, who survive a near-extinction level event when an interstellar comet hits the earth, must leave the safety of the Greenland bunker and embark on a perilous journey across the decimated frozen wasteland of Europe to find a new home.”
