The world of  Pet Sematary is expanding with a new prequel in the works at Paramount+, which will be Lindsey Beer’s feature directorial debut.

Jeff Buhler, who penned the script for the 2019 adaptation, based on the Stephen King story, wrote the prequel which was last revised by Beer, THR is reporting.

Natalie Alyn Lind (“Big Sky,” “Tell Me a Story”), Jack Mulhern (“Mare of Easttown”), Forrest Goodluck (The Revenant), and Isabella Star LaBlanc have joined the cast with Jackson White (“Mrs. Fletcher”) playing a young Jud Crandall.

While there have been no plot details revealed at this point, there are a couple of ways it could go. We can’t help but wonder if the prequel will involve the cautionary story that Jud recounts to Louis about Timmy, the young man who was the last person buried in the Pet Sematary. During the story, Jud says those famous lines, “Sometimes dead is better.” But we could be completely wrong. We would love to see how the cursed place came to be. There’s also a chance that it could be a completely new story. We’re going to just have to wait and find out, but don’t worry, we’ll keep you posted.
