Season five of “Rick and Morty” has been insane so far and is filled with easter eggs and homages. Last night, they paid homage to Clive Barker’s famous cenobites from Hellraiser, with their own spin.
In episode 5, titled “Amortycan Grickfitti”, Rick and Jerry summon cenobites with a demonic puzzle box so they can join them at a karaoke bar for “guys night” while Morty and Summer hang out with the new guy from school.
The cenobites explain in one scene to Rick that, “We love suffering, therefore we love hanging out with Jerry…his lameness is our candy.”
