Twenty-eight years in the making, Hocus Pocus II is finally on its way. Back in November, we reported that production on the film had officially started. Now, we can tell you the film’s working title, Hocus Pocus: Balck Flame, thanks to a photo posted on social media by Mike Ferguson of a dressing room/trailer door with Winifred’s (Bette Midler) name and just above it is “Black Flame”
Anne Fletcher (Dumplin’, The Proposal) will be directing the sequel to the 1993 classic directed by Kenny Ortega. Jen D’Angelo penned the script for Hocus Pocus 2.
“In Hocus Pocus 2, three young women accidentally bring the Sanderson Sisters back to modern-day Salem and must figure out how to stop the child-hungry witches from wreaking a new kind of havoc on the world.”
Disney has confirmed that the original Sanderson sisters Bette Midler (Winifred), Sarah Jessica Parker (Sarah), and Kathy Njimy (Mary), are all returning. They will be joined by The Tomorrow War actor Sam Richardson.
Ralph Winter (Hocus Pocus, X-Men franchise) and David Kirschner (Hocus Pocus, “Chucky”) are executive producing along with Adam Shankman (Hairspray, What Men Want). Lynn Harris (King Richard, The Shallows) is producing.
The title Black Flame goes back to the first film when Max lit the black flame candle in an attempt to impress Allison, awakening the Sanderson sisters and unleashing them on his small town.
