Jurassic World: Dominion is finally headed to the big screen this summer. A new image has surfaced from the movie of a Giganotosaurus, “Giga” for short, standing on top of an overturned SUV. The dino, which makes its franchise debut, is based on a real one. “It just wants to watch the world burn,” according to director Colin Trevorrow, who compares the massive creature to the Joker.
“I wanted something that felt like the Joker. It just wants to watch the world burn.” Trevorrow told Empire, who debuted the new image.
In real life, the Giganotosaurus lived in what is now Argentina during the early Cenomanian age of the Late Cretaceous period around 97 million years ago and has been described as the largest known terrestrial carnivores, even bigger than a T-Rex, with a massive head measuring over six feet long and a mouth full of razor-sharp teeth that averaged eight inches in length. In other words, this dinosaur was a bad MF.
Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, and BD Wong of the Jurassic World franchise return along with the original trilogy’s stars Sam Neill, Lauren Dern, and Jeff Goldblum. New cast members include María Gabriela de Faría (Deadly Class) and Joseph Marcell (“The Sandman”).
Colin Trevorrow, who was also behind Jurassic World, directs from a script written by Emily Carmichael, based on a story by Trevorrow and Derek Connolly.
Jurassic World 3: Dominion will open in theaters on June 10, 2022.
