The Predator franchise is back this summer with the new prequel, Prey. Today, 20th Century officially announced the release date for this August. That’s not all, the first official teaser trailer has also arrived.
Directed by Dan Trachtenberg (10 Cloverfield Lane), the prequel will reveal the Predator’s first hunt on earth with Amber Midthunder (“Legion”) starring as a Comanche woman who fights against gender norms and long-held traditions to become a warrior.
Set in the Comanche Nation 300 years ago, Prey follows Naru, a fierce and highly skilled warrior. She has been raised in the shadow of some of the most legendary hunters who roam the Great Plains, so when danger threatens her camp, she sets out to protect her people, stalking and ultimately fighting what turns out to be an alien predator.
Prey features a cast that almost entirely features Native American stars including Amber Midthunder (The Ice Road, “Roswell, New Mexico”), Stormee Kipp (Sooyii), and Julian Black Antelope (Tribal), Michelle Thrush (The Journey Home), and Dakota Beavers.
Written by Patrick Aison (Jack Ryan), the prequel is produced by John Davis (Jungle Cruise, The Predator), Lawrence Gordon (“Watchmen”), Marty Ewing (IT: Chapter Two), and Jhane Myers (Monsters of God).
Prey arrives Hulu on August 5, 2022.
