Three men gather around a body in the first image from Millennium Media’s new horror-thriller Abyzou, which Decal acquired at Cannes.
In the film, the son of a Jewish funeral director returns home with his pregnant in tow. When the family receives a mysterious body, they are unaware that it holds an ancient demon with sinister plans for the unborn child.
Nick Blood (“Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.”), Allan Corduner (“Homeland”), Emm Wiseman (Winchester), and Paul Kaye (“Game of Thrones”) star in the film directed by Oliver Park. Hank Hoffman penned the script with Jonathan Yunger.
According to lore and myths, Abyzou “The Taker of Children” is the demon often blamed for miscarriages and infant deaths. She was said to be motivated by envy because she was infertile herself. In the Hebrew tradition, she is identified with Lilith, in Egypt with Alabasandria, and in Byzantine culture with Gylou, but throughout history she had many names.
Deadline reports that Abyzou will land in theaters later this year.
