The new trailer from Netflix’s upcoming Tim Burton “Addams Family” spin-off, “Wednesday” is here! In it we see Scream star Jenna Ortega as Wednesday, unleashing revenge on a group of bullies at Nevermore Academy, where she attempts to master her new psychic abilities and solve a murder mystery connected to her family’s past.

 

“Little did I know that I’d be stepping into a nightmare,” Ortega says in the trailer. “Full of mystery, mayhem and murder. I think I’m going to love it here.”

 

“The Addams Family” spin-off also stars Catherine Zeta-Jones and Luis Guzman in the roles of Morticia and Gomez. “Game of Thrones” actress Gwendoline Christie will play the role of “Larissa Weems,” the principal of Nevermore Academy. The cast also includes Joy Sunday, Emma Myers, Hunter Doohan, Moosa Mostafa, Georgie Farmer, Naomi J. Ogawa, Percy Hynes White, Jamie McShane, and Thora Birch, and Riki Lindhome. The series also sees the return of “Addams Family” star Christina Ricci as a yet-to-be-named character.

 

Wednesday” is described as “a sleuthing, supernaturally infused mystery charting Wednesday Addams’ years as a student at Nevermore Academy. Wednesday’s attempts to master her emerging psychic ability, thwart a monstrous killing spree that has terrorized the local town, and solve the supernatural mystery that embroiled her parents 25 years ago while navigating her new and very tangled relationships.”

 

Alfred Gough and Miles Millar (“Smallville”) are writing and serving as showrunners, with Tim Burton directing.
