In 2021, Dexter (Michael C. Hall) returned for the revival series “Dexter: New Blood,” which saw him reconnect with his teenage son, Harrison. You may have thought that would be the end of the series, but you would be wrong.
THR has just reported that a prequel series, “Dexter: Origins,” has now been given a series order from Showtime.
In the prequel, we will watch as young Dexter Morgan evolve into the avenging serial killer we all know and love. The series will begin with Dexter graduating college and joining Miami Metro, where he will meet the younger versions of the characters from the original series.
Clyde Phillips, who served as showrunner on the first four seasons of “Dexter“ and returned for “Dexter: New Blood,“ will oversee the expanding “Dexter“ franchise. The prequel series isn’t the only Dexter-related project heading your way. Other possible spin-offs include a series that centers on Dexter’s son Harrison.
There is no word yet if franchise star Michael C. Hall who has long played Dexter, will return for “Origins,” but we hope that he does.
