Until now, actor Sean Whalen has been best known for his role as “Roach” in Wes Craven’s creepy AF movie The People Under the Stairs, but that’s about to change. The popular horror star is making the leap to directing with his feature debut, Crust.

The latest news about the film comes this morning with the announcement that “Succession” and Ferris Bueller’s Day Off actor Alan Rusk has joined the cast of Crust, which is set to begin filming this April in Los Angeles. The two have worked together before, co-starring in the classic disaster movie Twister.

Whalen will also be starring in and producing the creature feature, which he co-wrote with Jim Wald.

The film tells the story of a lonely laundromat owner, Vegas Winters (Whalen), who keeps the leftover socks from customers and uses them to clean himself. When he gets abused and weeps into the pile of socks, it turns into a creature who seeks revenge on Vegas’s enemies. Ruck plays Randy Roberts, a cocky former child star spearheading a reboot of his childhood shows.

Previously announced cast members of this fun flick include Daniel Roebuck (The Munsters, Getting Grace), Rebekah Kennedy (2 WITCHES, LAW & ORDER SVU), and Shawntay Dalon (The Detroiters) with Felissa Rose (Sleepaway Camp, Terrifier 2), Ricky Dean Logan (Back to the Future), and Daniel John Kearney (Dark Circles) producing and acting.

Jeff Witjas rep Ruck at Artist for the Performing Arts (APA) and Mark Teitelbaum at Teitelbaum Artists Group. Whalen is repped by Christina Price at Worldwide Artists Group and Gary Ousdahl and Marc Stephens at Advanced Management.
