The Conjuring Universe is set to expand beyond the big screen. Warner Bros. announced today that a television series is in the works for HBO Max from Peter Safran and James Wan.
“Peter Safran is developing a drama series based on New Line Cinema’s film franchise with Warner Bros. Television,” Deadline reports.
According to reports, the series will “continue the story established in the feature films.”
James Wan’s Atomic Monster and The Safran Company will produce in association with Warner Bros. TV.
Currently, The Conjuring universe includes the movies: The Conjuring, The Conjuring 2, The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It, Annabelle, Annabelle Comes Home, Annabell: Creation, and The Nun. The Nun 2 is set to premiere later this year, on September 8th.
James Wan is a Conjuring veteran, having produced Annabelle, Annabelle Comes Home, The Nun, Annabelle and Annabelle: Creation. He also directed and produced The Conjuring and The Conjuring 2.
Peter Safran is behind films like Aquaman, The Suicide Squad, and Shazam! and is not new to The Conjuring Universe. He produced The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It, Annabell Comes Home, and Annabelle: Creation.
It’s safe to say that the series couldn’t be in better hands than Safran and Wan’s.
There is no word yet if franchise stars Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson will be involved with the series. We’ll update you when we know more.
