Fede Alvarez, who is behind Don’t Breathe and Evil Dead (2013), is in the director’s chair for the new installment of the massive Alien franchise, titled Alien: Romulus.

Cailee Spaeny (The Craft: Legacy, Pacific Rim Uprising), Isabela Merced, David Jonsson, Archie Renaux, Spike Fearn, and Aileen Wu star in the new film, which is being described as “an original standalone feature.”

The ninth entry centers on a group of young people on a distant world who find themselves going head-to-head with the most terrifying life form in the universe.

Alvarez co-wrote the script with Rodo Sayagues (Evil Dead) for Alien: Romulus.

While filming on “Alien Day,” the brilliant director tweeted a photo from the set of a clapperboard with a face hugger wrapped around it.
