After years of rumor and speculation, the sequel to Tim Burton‘s iconic film Beetlejuice is finally getting a sequel. Today, Warner Bros. announced the premiere date for the summer of 2024.
We will see Burton in the director’s chair with star Michael Keaton, Beetlejuice himself, returning. Jenna Ortega, who also stars in Burton’s series “Wednesday,” will play the daughter of Lydia, Winona Ryder’s iconic character, who Ryder is returning to play.
Catherine O’Hara is also returning alongside Keaton. Justin Theroux has also joined the cast, though his role has yet to be announced.
The 1988 classic sees “The spirits of a deceased couple harassed by an unbearable family that has moved into their home and hire a malicious spirit to drive them out, Beetlejuice.
Last we heard, Jenna Ortega, who also stars in Burton’s series “Wednesday,” is in talks to play the daughter of Lydia, Winona Ryder’s iconic character. “Wednesday’s” second season is on its way from Netflix.
Beetlejuice II will open in theaters on September 6, 2024.
