Fans of big horror franchises, like The Conjuring Universe, will be psyched to learn that a new horror franchise based on haunting actual events is heading your way.
Cinedigm is teaming up with horror heavy-hitter Tony DeRosa-Grund, the creator and producer of The Conjuring franchise, for The Haunted, Deadline reports.
“The Haunted franchise starts with one family’s dark and terrifying real-life preternatural experiences, which intersect with historical facts and legends surrounding a young pregnant woman accused by her father of being a witch. That convergence places the family in impending mortal danger.”
DeRosa-Grund, who wrote the original Conjuring movie, aims to recapture the franchise’s success by building a new, similar universe with sequels, prequels, and spin-offs.
The first film will focus on exploring the real terrifying events experienced by a family who appears to be under attack by a malevolent supernatural force that inflicts not only harm but death on the family members.
