Back in February, we reported that Barbarian director Zach Cregger had found his next project, Companion, which he will be producing.
News has now come, via THR, that Jack Quaid, who recently put on the Ghostface costume in Scream, will star in the film, which marks the feature directorial debut of Drew Hancock (“Mr. Pickles,” “My Dead Ex”), who also penned the script for the film which is being described as a sci-fi horror film.
THR reports, “Companion was won by New Line in a hot horror auction near the beginning of the year. It was initially going to act as BoulderLight and Cregger’s follow-up to Barbarian before the filmmaker switched tracks to focus on his own script, Weapons, also now casting and at New Line. But the team helped Companion land not just a home but greenlit the start of production, backing Hancock to make his directorial debut.”
BoulderLight’s Raphael Margules and J.D. Lifshitz will produce alongside Vertigo’s Roy Lee. BoulderLight’s Tracy Rosenblum and Vertigo’s Andrew Childs are serving as executive producers.
