This week, several must-see horror films and series are headed your way. Here’s what you don’t want to miss.
Insidious 5: The Red Door takes us back into “The Further” for the final time.
Patrick Wilson, who starred in the first two films, is returning to the franchise, not just to star as Josh Lambert, but will also make his directorial debut with the fifth installment. He will star alongside returning cast members Ty Simpkins, who will reprise his role as Dalton Lambert, Josh’s son, and Rose Byrne, who played Josh’s wife, Renai Lambert.
The new movie is set ten years after the events of the second film. “Josh Lambert (Wilson) heads east to drop his son Dalton (Simpkins) off at an idyllic, ivy-covered university. However, Dalton’s college dream becomes a nightmare when the repressed demons of his past suddenly return to haunt them both.”
Dark Star Pictures is set to unleash Alice Maio Mackay’s acclaimed slasher Bad Girl Boogey.
“Bad Girl Boogey follows Angel, whose mother was brutally murdered one Halloween night when blood was shed by a deranged killer wearing a parasitic mask cursed with black magic and bigotry. Sixteen years later, when Angel’s best friend is slaughtered by a killer with the same mask, they must overcome their personal struggles, fight their fear, and find the masked killer before he, or it, slaughters everyone they hold dear.”
Starring Justina Machado, “The Horror of Dolores Roach” is based on the hit Spotify podcast series of the same name and is a contemporary Sweeney Todd-inspired urban legend of love, betrayal, weed, cannibalism, and survival of the fittest.
In the series, Dolores Roach (Justina Machado) is released after an unjust 16-year prison sentence, and she returns to a gentrified Washington Heights. Dolores reunites with an old stoner friend, Luis (Alejandro Hernandez), who lets her live and work as a masseuse in the basement under his empanada shop. When the promise of her newfound stability is quickly threatened, “Magic Hands” Dolores is driven to shocking extremes to survive.
The series also stars Justina Machado, Alejandro Hernandez, Kita Updike, and K. Todd Freeman and premieres exclusively on Prime Video on July 7th.
