The Final Destination franchise never fails to deliver some of the most interesting kills in the horror genre. A few months ago, we were happy to report that after more than ten years, a new installment is on the way.
While recently speaking with Collider, franchise creator Jeffrey Reddick gave fans a little tease of what we can expect, including that Final Destination 6 will add a whole new layer to the franchise we love.
“This film dives into the film in such a unique way that it attacks it from a different angle so you don’t feel like, ‘Oh, there’s an amazing setup and then there’s gonna be one wrinkle that can potentially save you all that you have to kind of make a moral choice about or do to solve it.’ There’s an expansion of the universe that – I’m being so careful,” Reddick teases. He continues saying, “It kind of unearths a whole deep layer to the story that kind of, yes, makes it really, really interesting.”
The Freaks co-directing team of Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein will be at the helm of the new sequel. Lori Evans Taylor (Wicked Wicked Games) penned the script along with Guy Busick (Scream). Jon Watts (Spider-Man: No Way Home) is producing with New Line Cinema, Dianne McGunigle, and returning Final Destination producers Sheila Hanahan Taylor and Craig Perry.
There is no word yet on when Final Destination 6 will premiere. As soon as it is announced, we will let you know. In the meantime, try to watch out for log trucks.
Here’s a look back at the Final Destination 5 trailer. If you somehow missed it or want to watch it again, you can find it streaming on Apple TV, rent it on Prime Video or YouTube, and can watch the entire franchise on Fubo.
