Crime, gambling, and casinos not on Gamstop are a combination that has always worked well together in world history and is still a hot topic in Hollywood. We all know movies like Ocean’s Eleven, where an all-star movie cast led by George Clooney and Brad Pitt pull off a successful
robbery at the well-known casinos MGM Grand, Bellagio, and Mirage in Las Vegas. If we look back in history, we cannot ignore the time of Prohibition in the American 1920s. The mafia then controlled so-called “speakeasies” – secret pubs where people drank and gambled. Gambling online at non-GamStop casinos or offline in Las Vegas has probably never been as intertwined as they were back then!
The Most Exciting True Non-GamStop Casinos Crime Story
Of course, stories like Ocean’s Eleven are purely fictional – and many stories from Al Capone’s time are, of course, true. There are, therefore some historical, epic stories about crime and casinos in history. We have selected the six most exciting and bizarre crime stories for you and summarized them below.
The Most Brilliantly Designed Bomb Ever Was Used in a Casino
Extortion Attempt
Bomb attacks are very serious crimes that are, unfortunately, regularly committed. Often there are terrorists behind it, such as the many IRA attacks in Northern Ireland and England in the 20th century or the Al Qaeda bombing of the World Trade Center in 1993. There are also some madmen responsible for domestic terrorism, such as Ted Kaczynski, known as the Unabomber, or Timothy McVeigh, who killed 168 people in a 1995 Oklahoma City hotel bombing. The goal of all these terrorists was simply to wreak havoc. Yet some criminals use bombs for another purpose, namely to extort someone!
Harvey’s
One such extortion attempt took place somewhere on the border between the US states of California and Nevada, where Harvey’s Resort Hotel and Casino is located. This gigantic complex, located on the famous Lake Tahoe, was chosen by an unknown criminal in 1980.
Somehow they managed to leave a bomb in the building. The casino management received a letter stating that three million US dollars had to be paid. If this were not met, the casino would be blown up.
FBI
A specialized team from the FBI quickly arrived at the casino and immediately decided to evacuate the building. When the officers finally found the bomb, they were completely amazed. According to the FBI’s anti-bomb squad, it was almost impossible to defuse the bomb. This was also indicated by the criminal in the letter to the casino management. It stated that the casino would not receive instructions on how to flip some of the bomb’s switches until the money had been paid. Only in this way would it be possible to safely transport the bomb
to another location where it can then be detonated. According to the anonymous mastermind behind the bomb, it was completely impossible to defuse the bomb in any other way.
Ingenious Bomb
The FBI agreed that if they tinkered with the bomb, it would almost certainly cause an immediate explosion. The officers were amazed at how unusually ingenious the bomb had been put together. For example, there were sensors attached to the bomb that could
recognize movements. If any cops came near it, it would explode automatically. According to FBI research, the sensors were so sensitive that a sudden change in the atmospheric composition of the air inside the building would herald an explosion.
Explosion
Since paying was not an option, the FBI decided to try to defuse the bomb anyway. Some technicians came up with the idea of using a small, targeted explosion to separate the detonator from the rest of the bomb. Even though the FBI had been warned that any attempt to touch the bomb would result in an explosion, they believed they would succeed. However, the FBI did not know that some dynamite had also been placed by the bomb maker in a small circuit near the detonator. Naturally, when the FBI agents made their planned explosion, this part also exploded. However, this blast was powerful enough to detonate the dynamite in the rest of the bomb as well. This caused a gigantic explosion that caused enormous damage on all floors of the casino.
Brain Behind the Attack
The brain behind the bomb attack was soon found. The FBI tracked down one John Birges, a former World War II veteran from Hungary who fought for the Germans as a pilot in the Luftwaffe. Birges moved to America after the war, where he quickly amassed a fortune. However, he says he lost $ 750,000 in Harey’s Casino – which made him hate this
gambling palace. Birges was arrested and sentenced to life imprisonment. He died in his cell in 1996 at the age of 74. Believe it or not, this bomb still lives on at the FBI training complex! The FBI agents were so impressed with the technology behind the bomb that they built several replicas. These replicas are used during training for new agents of the anti-bomb squad. According to the FBI, the bomb is still the most brilliant bomb ever made by an individual criminal.
