After a long hiatus, AMC’s acclaimed horror anthology series is finally back to ruin our sleep schedules. Strap in for the first look at “The Terror: Devil in Silver.“ The first teaser gives us a claustrophobic peek inside the deeply unsettling New Hyde Psychiatric Hospital.
Bad Luck and Big Demons
Dan Stevens stars as Pepper, a working-class moving man with a short fuse. Through a nasty combination of bad luck and a bad temper, he finds himself wrongfully committed to New Hyde—an institution overflowing with people society would rather sweep under the rug.
Once checked in, Pepper has to survive a lot. There are patients actively working against him. What’s more, the doctors are harboring incredibly grim, unethical secrets. But to top it all off, the Devil himself (or at least, a malevolent entity thriving on the suffering of the inmates) is out for blood.
To win his freedom, Pepper has to face this monster head-on, only to realize that the scariest demons might be the ones living inside his own head.
The Creative Team
If the plot doesn’t grab you, the pure talent behind the camera definitely should. This season boasts an elite horror and drama pedigree. The series is based on the brilliant 2012 novel by Victor LaValle, who is serving as co-showrunner alongside Chris Cantwell (Halt and Catch Fire). The legendary Karyn Kusama (Jennifer’s Body, The Invitation) directed the first two episodes. And get this, it’s produced by horror royalty Ridley Scott under his Scott Free Productions banner.
An Incredible Ensemble Cast
Alongside Stevens, the show has packed the wards with an absolute powerhouse of character actors. The cast includes Judith Light, CCH Pounder, Aasif Mandvi, Stephen Root, and Marin Ireland.
Terror is Coming!
“The Terror“ originally blew audiences away back in 2018 with its icy naval expedition, followed by the WWII-centered Infamy in 2019. Now, with the premiere right around the corner, we can likely expect a full, blood-curdling trailer to drop any day now. The six-episode third season, “The Terror: Devil in Silver,” officially premieres May 7 on both AMC+ and Shudder.
